New Zealand ski season going off
In what seesms to be a continuation of the incredible 2011/2011 season we had here in North America, New Zealand is reporting a banner year for snow fall all across the country. It's not a secret that NZ typically doesn't rival us on for total snow falls but this season they seem to be giving us a run for our money, have a look:
Well ok, maybe that is a strech given Whitewater here in Nelson BC typically gets around a 300cm base at the end of the season and given that the ski season only has another month to go before it starts to turn to spring it is doubtfull that they will rack up numbers we are used to seeing on this side of the pond.
Still impressive by NZ standards.
This quote was found on line from a happy Kiwi:
"With over 70cm of snow in the last 48 hours we had an amazing bluebird day. New Zealand's largest ski area Mt Ruapehu is reporting more than a 3 metre base. Today I had the best conditions I have experienced in my 5 seasons of working here and the best thing is it's started snowing again this evening!"
This would have been the year to complete back to back winters in North America and down under. Maybe next season? Anyone have any first had beta?
