    OROS Endeavor Glove
Aerogel is at the heart of these space-age gloves but OROS calls their proprietary version Solarcore Insulation, which its the same material that NASA uses to insulate space suits so you know this stuff is warm. It is the least thermal conductive solid known to man and unlike down and synthetic insulation materials, SOLARCORE does not rely on loft to retain heat. The Endeavor Glove offers unmatched warmth and protection into a thin and flexible glove that does not sacrifice dexterity. The perfect gift for those of you who get cold hands while skiing and adventuring in the dead of winter, or just walking the dog.

Icebreaker Men’s Bodyfitzone 260 Long Sleeve Half Zip Hood and Legless Bottoms
We love Icebreaker kit, as will whoever you choose to bestow this upon. The Bodyfitzone concept means there are some sections of this top and bottom combo made out of lycra and some made out of merino wool. My former issue with merino tops is that they tend to run sweaty under the arms—no longer the case here. And… there’s no turning back from legless. With a pair of knee socks, legless bottoms eliminate bunching and generally fit great. Giving these two pieces together will definitely make someone’s holiday.

    Outdoor Research Inception Aerogel Gloves
The secret sauce of Outdoor Research’s Inception Aerogel Gloves, you guessed it—Aerogel. This stuff is truly space-age since it was originally used to insulate NASA space-suits. This means Aerogel won’t compress the way traditional insulation does and thus provides better warmth. The Inception Aerogel Gloves use a four-way stretchy softshell construction for maximum mobility of your digits and breathability when things heat up. A space-age gift for those hardcore adventurers you know.

This insulation is only found up-front on the jacket where you need warmth the most, on the back of the Smartloft 120 you’ll find a Sport Fleece fabric with a DWR finish, perfect for high-intensity workouts. Mammut Ducan GTX High Boots
Finding a boot that is supportive enough on longish hikes, while still being light, is a bit of a challenge. The Ducans come in different heights around the ankle but the “highs” maybe where you want to look. The boots’ stiff sole and form-fitting design make it feel stable and agile at the same time. These may not work in deep snow without a gaiter and maybe on a snowshoe; heck, perhaps get a pair for a warm-weather getaway or shelve them until spring.

    Arc’teryx Proton LT Hoody
The Arc’teryx Proton LT got very high marks in our “Best Mid Layers of 2019/2020” round-up—and for good reason. This synthetic mid-layer is about as good as it gets. The Fortius Air 20 face fabric is super tough, in fact, it’s 60 times more durable in abrasion tests than the industry standard. The Coreloft Compact insulation breaths as you move to ensure you don’t overheat maintains excellent stretch recovery while the No Slip Zip keeps the main zipper from self-opening. It’s not just a pretty face, the Arcteryx Proton LT Hoody performs like no other. Get one for yourself and maybe one for that skier on your list?

    Arc’teryx Sabre AR Jacket
Nothing quite like an Arc’teryx hardshell, eh? The Sabre AR is a total fortress. 3-layer Gore-Tex with a little bit of fuzzy insulation makes this the perfect outer-layer over whatever other layers the weather dictates. The Sabre AR is cut a little long and a little big (which may be the style today). Giving it to someone as a present is a pretty spendy statement. Perhaps limit your purchase to just one of these as a gift this holiday. Luckily, there are Arc’teryx jackets for women, too. And…if you want a colour recommendation, try the Yugen (green).

The extra lens, in its own sheath, is also a great thing to have in your pack on low-light days in the backcountry. Great goggles, great gift.
