    ROUTES

We at Backcountry Skiing Canada are in our third year here and, though we began by focussing on what we know— ski tours in the West Kootenay—we now feature more than 150 routes from all over BC, Alberta and Eastern Canada. We hope, next season, to push east and eventually get some backcountry ski routes from the Chic Chocs in Québec. We work with various professional guides in getting intel but we also depend on input from you. If you have been on a great backcountry ski tour and you want to share your story and images, you are invited to submit your info here in our forums. Better yet, why not turn your post into an entry for our annual Expose Yourself photo/vid comp and win big, big, big.

Something else you should know…we’ve included pretty basic descriptions of various West Kootenay tours here on the site. For a more complete description of these tours, and more detailed suggestions and directions, you can buy the guidebook here. The guidebook is in a super-handy format that you can easily toss into your pack. It’s an excellent resource and well worth the price of a six pack. Get the goods on Whitewater Ski Resort, Kootenay Pass and Rossland/Red Resort which all reside within the Interior Mountains of BC.

We are always eager to gather more route descriptions that aren’t featured here. It’ll mean better, possibly safer, and definitely more fun tours for readers like you. To contribute to the areas we are focusing on currently, just CLICK HERE and let ‘er rip. If you have any questions, contact backcountryskiingcanada’s Grand Poobah. We all want your input and will help you out in any way we can.
