Sneak peek at next year's gear: Scarpa Maestrale RS VIDEO

At Outdoor Retailer, we checked in with the good people at Scarpa NA and got the low-down on their most recent iteration of the already-super-popular Maestrale and Maestrale RS alpine touring boots. We reviewed an earlier version of the RS and are looking forward to taking these new babies out for a spin.

The Scarpa elves seem to have made improvements in all the areas that we backcountry skiers really care about.  In the case of the RS--when compared to the earlier model, this new boot has a 60° range of motion (up from 30), the flex is 130 (up from 120) and they've managed to shave 5oz of the program. Sounds like an improvement all around. They look slick as heck too. 

We shot a vid of Kim Miller, Scarpa NA boss, talking about the Maestrale and the Maestrale RS. Note his use of the term "hot-rodded"--seems like a good way of describing what they have done with these new boots.
