      Yet More from SIA 2013 -- New PAS Avy Bags from Mammut -- VIDEO

      As well as being purveyors of fine Swiss-styled, and highly functional, apparel, Mammut has been making avalanche airbags for way longer than most. We had a chance to check out their new avy bags and learn a little about what makes them tick. The version that we deployed protects your noggin against trauma as well. Statistically, avy bags are starting to make a lot of sense for people who backcountry ski with any regularity. We hope to take a Mammut bag for a long-term spin in the future and share our impressions with you. Take a look at the vid and thanks to Timmy Dowe for the walk through.

      Wow.  I couldn't really see the whole protection system until I watched the video.   That does look like some serious coverage around the head.  


      Still not sure that I want to be lugging one of these around on my regular tours.  What do they come in at? an extra 5 kg?  


      Anybody touring with one of these yet?  Has it changed how you approach terrain or  your decision making?


      Are there any links to any larger scale studies of results of using one of these bags?
