The Hoodie
The Hoodie is the sweater that started it all for PAKA, a company that was founded by Kris Cody in Peru that makes apparel from natural alpaca fibre. As PAKA states: “Our mission is to create natural, all-purpose clothing for people who love the outdoors. The Hoodie is made from start to finish in Peru with the alpaca fibre sourced from the outskirts of Puno, then dyed in the mountains of Arequipa, and hand-signed by the female artisan who wove it in Cusco. Spring means ski traverse season and that means long days in warmer weather and this is where the new Khroma Ascendor Softshell Pants from Rab excel. Traditional waterproof/breathable ski pants are great for skiing at the resort, particularly when it is cold and blustery outside, but when you need to crush vertical and regulate your temperature more effectively you want a softshell ski touring pant like the Kroma Ascendors. Arcade Atlas Belt
Already being a big fan of Arcade Belts due to their low-profile design which works really well under a lot of layers or a backpack hip belt, I was interested to check out their Atlas Belt with their patented A2 buckle. Sea to Summit Ascent Down Sleeping Bag
Sea to Summit has redesigned their men’s and women’s Ascent Down Sleeping Bags for Spring 2024 and they’ve added a few new features that make it one of the most versatile and functional 3 season sleeping bags on the market. The Ascent’s warmth comes from the bag’s RDS-certified 750+ fillpower goose down which uses a non-PFC Ultra-Dry Down treatment to ensure the down stays drier in damp conditions. This is wrapped up in a lightweight 20D recycled nylon shell with a non-PFC Durable Water Repellant (DWR) finish to ensure wind and water don’t penetrate the outer fabric. On the inside of the Ascent Sleeping Bag, you’ll find the same super soft and comfortable 20D recycled nylon. Sea To Summit uses a box baffle design that keeps more of the warmth within the bag since the stitching is not sewn through. This process takes considerably more effort to produce but the added warmth and comfort are immediately noticeable. On the lower half of the bag, the baffles run vertically up and down to minimize migration of the down and maximize the warmth transfer down your body while the upper baffles are a more traditional horizontal orientation to promote heat distribution across your torso.

Sea To Summit’s unique Free-Flow Zip System means that you have several ways to stay comfortable depending on your sleeping preference and body temperature. You can open up the side zipper to vent out excess heat or use both side zippers to increase ventilation and airflow to prevent overheating. You can even unzip the foot box zipper to release heat from that area as well. Solarcore Aerogel
Developed by Samuel Stephens Kistler over 80 years ago, Aerogel was not used commercially until NASA improved the substance and found a practical application for it when they realized that it could protect astronauts from the extreme temperatures of space.

Aerogel is a very ultra-lightweight synthetic material that is porous and derived from a gel. Gregory Alpaca Gear Storage
Gregory has long been one of our favourite pack brands from ski touring, and hiking to urban packs, Gregory always delivers well-thought-out, comfortable, robustly constructed and visually appealing packs. They are now taking that same ethos and expanding into the gear organization category and offering up a variety of options under the Alpaca name. Gregory Alpaca Gear Pod 5L
Ideal for smaller more portable items such as electronics and personal things, the Alpaca Gear Pod 5L allows you to organize things together for on-the-go travel or storage at home. The Gear Pod comes in two sizes, 5L and 10L and has a padded bottom for added protection and a mesh lid so you can see what’s inside. The zipper goes around three sides for easy access and there is a sturdy handle across the top for carrying. Best of all the Gear Pod folds down flat so if not needed it can be stored away neatly without taking up too much space.

Gregory Alpaca Gear Basket 70L
Ideal for storing larger items at home or organizing things for a camping trip and then tossing the Alpaca Gear Basket in the car for a road trip. With a rigid yet lightweight aluminum frame the Alpaca Gear Basket stays open to provide quick and easy access to anything you put in it. Gregory Alpaca Gear Box 45L
For the ultimate in gear storage and protection, the Alpaca Gear Box can’t be beaten. It is fully waterproof and dustproof (IP 65 rated) thanks to a rubber gasket that runs around the underside of the lid so rest assured no water, dirt or other debris will get to the content inside. The see-through lid allows you to see the contents of the Alpaca Gear Box without having to open it which is super handy if you have multiple boxes. The lid is made from clear polycarbonate so it can withstand hard impacts and the lid’s latch system uses Gregory’s FlipFlp Dual Access Hinge design which means that you can open the lid from either side or if you want to remove it all together for even easier access. The top of the lid has channels designed into it so that water automatically drains away instead of pooling so when you open it there is no worry of water running off the lid and into the box. The Alpaca Gear Box is of course stackable for easy storage of multiple boxes and with 45L it can hold a heap of gear.

Rab Muon 40 Backpack
If you want to move faster then you have to go lighter and that’s the principle behind Rab’s new Muon 40 Backpack. This is Rab’s foray into ultralight packs it uses a streamlined sturdy design to provide all the features you can think of, all without adding additional weight. At 40L the Muon is ideal as an ultralight multi-day trekking pack but if you need more room then consider the 50L version of the Muon. Both are available in men’s and women’s versions. The women’s pack is built with narrower dimensions which makes them ideal for women with smaller bodies.

At just 0.895kg / 1lb 16oz, the Muon 40 is truly lightweight thanks mostly in part to the use of the Spectra Ripstop fabric. This durable and lightweight fabric is also UV-resistant and built to take some abuse despite its light weight. The Spectra fibres, realtime to their weight are 15 times stronger than steel and are woven with Cordura nylon to form a rip-stop grip that easily withstand day-to-day abuse.

Despite its diminutive weight, the Muon 40 Backpack can comfortably shoulder heavy loads thanks to its close-fitting TRI-FLEX™ carry system which features a wraparound harness, shaped lumbar pad, and supportive hip belt. TO adjust the overall fit and stability you can adjust the Muon 40 suspension by using the forward pull, on the hip belt and snugging up the built-in ultralight compression straps. The lower compression straps also double as a way to affix a sleeping mat.

The Muon 40 Backpack has a roll top design which allows for easy access to internal items and can compress and expand as your requirements warrant. There is also a large front stash pocket that is a convenient place to quickly stash extra layers, while the two side stash pockets are ideal for water carry. If you need more water or prefer to use a hydration bladder, the Muon 40 Backpack can accommodate a 3L hydration bladder inside. Outdoor Research Freewheel 5L Hip Pack
Mountain bike season is in full swing and Outdoor Research has a new hip pack that provides a more compact and versatile option to traditional backpack options. The Freewheel 5L Hip Pack has a large main compartment that can carry an extra layer, snacks and tools for short and full-day rides. An internal tool pocket has enough room for a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, while the zippered compartment can keep valuable sea smaller items protected and separated. On the outside of the Freewheel, there is a zippered sunglasses pocket which has a non-scratch lining to protect your shades. A hip belt pocket is sized to easily carry your phone while you have two options for hydration, an external water bottle holder or you can also use an internal water bladder (not included). Rab Veil 12L Lightweight Running Vest
Rab’s newest lightweight running vest, the ‘Veil’ comes in lightweight 6L and 12L sizes and is designed for longer distance runs. The Veil is built around a Mono Mesh Chassis which has been designed to contour to your body, provide support for the gear you are carrying and reduce bounce while running on variable terrain. The sternum fit system provides a lightweight and customizable fit with three sizes to choose from so you will always get a perfect fit. The highly breathable fabric is 50% lighter and retains 70% less moisture than other options on the market. It has a large U-shaped zipped compartment on the back to store extra layers with a smaller internal zippered pocket for valuable and smaller items. There are two secure zippered pockets with ultralight zip pulls on the front in addition to two medium-sized mesh stuff pockets.
