      Pretty Faces - SOAPBOX

THE MORNINGS ALWAYS BEGIN THE SAME WAY. ALARMS AND FUMBLING FOR CLOTHING. STUFFING BEDHEAD INTO A TOQUE, FEIGNED ATTEMPTS AT THOROUGH TOOTHBRUSHING AND A SNOWY TRUDGE  TO THE MAIN LODGE, THAT MOST SACRED OF PLACES WHERE THE COFFEE POT RESIDES.

This am was no different, save for the Flying squirrel suits replete with tails, ears, wings and other such accoutrement. It is cold today and I am happy to be wearing pyjamas, squirrel or otherwise over the standard layers of goretex. It is comfy and cozy and just a little bit insane, which really appeals to me. Other things happen, meetings and breakfast before we push our bones into the cat and we go up, up and up. We sway and we lurch. We pray for quick passage from last nights transgressions… the lemon drops, the jenga disasters, the coma inducing visits to karl’s trailer. We briefly lose two, Caleb and Rachel our late night warriors slip into the land of snore and drool before a hasty resurrection by way of dance party…Go pros out, stereo up, new life found.

The day starts with pow, with cameras, with pillows with laughter and continues on thru layers of shenanigans and victories, thru epic failures and snow angel attempts gone awry. All these elements combine to create yet another blissful day in the mountains…perfect in the unexpected ways we find to laugh at ourselves, expressing the ecstasy we feel just being alive, breathing  and sliding on snow. Life isn’t always this good; so we hold on tight and stretch out these moments. We hug each other and make our love known…skier to boarder, squirrel to flying squirrel.

Have a look thru the stuff below and If you find it makes you smile, why not check out the Pretty Faces Movie produced by skier girl lynsey Dyer. She’s stoking out chica’s on snow and I think thats pretty alright. I had a good ole kootenay time time guiding them with my bud  Jon A. Macdonald  thru the wilds of Retallack. You can find their scene over at Unicorn picnic dot com. Thanks to Victoria for the image of karl in a Squirrel suit and Thanks to you for reading!

The link below is a video of our back of the cat dance party, ENJOY!

I'd like to send out a big thank you to Black Diamond for the sweet swag i won last month as part of the Backcountryskiingcanada.com SOAPBOX Contest. You guys sent along an Avalung pack, a shovel and probe and i know they will all see alot of miles in the coming years. As you guys know, when you are guiding and playing in the back country day in day out you blow thru alot of gear, stuff wears out, stuff breaks. Thankfully there are sometimes opportunities like these to help a sister keep lappin those hills and reporting on new adventures. Thanks again, and check out my blog at http://www.splitboardlove.com for more sweet adventures. love the POWDERBANDIT!
