Great to hear you are making the trip to Canada to go ski touring. While the rockies to have the best views around their snow is cold, limited and unstable so the ski touring is not the best until late winter and early spring. Do stop there to see the iconic Lake Louise and Banff area but then head to Rogers Pass where the snow is deep, dry and more stable generally. From there I would head to revelstoke and then south to the Kootenays. Here in the Kootenays we get similar snow depths as the coast mnts but much drier and far fewer people. Ski touring at Kootenay Pass and Whitewater is some of the best tre skiing around and the snow is typically great.
