“The Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Fest is a grass-roots gathering intended to share and celebrate the culture of snow play amongst breathtaking scenery and world renowned snow. The Festival has a wide appeal to mountain enthusiasts of all levels and across ages and disciplines. Whether locked down, goofy, free-heeled, taking lifts , earning turns, beginner or expert - we share in one common love for the mountains and the potential they hold for us. The festival revolves around several days of clinics, competitions, events and celebrations of all ski/snowboard pursuits.”

Now in its 8th year, the annual Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Festival is taking place in the powder mecca of the Kootenays, Whitewater Ski Resort. Whitewater has some of the best snow and an endless array of backcountry routes for any ability. Don’t take my word for it, have a look at just a handful of the routes to be had.
Come for a day or all three, but be sure to stop by the Backcountry Skiing Canada booth in the Trade Fair area next to the Whitewater Lodge to say ‘hi’. Grab a BSC sticker or enter to win some cool prizes. More on that to follow.
