Where to Ski This Time of Year

There is still plenty of snow up high in the mountains so while some are getting into their garden or hitting the bike trails—some of us are still ski touring and riding the resorts.

      --------------------------------Sponsored Post--------------------------------

Winter isn't over just because spring has arrived. For those who love skiing, there are still plenty of opportunities to hit the slopes and enjoy the powdery snow. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, there are destinations around the world where you can extend your ski season and make the most of the remaining snow.

In this post, we'll explore some of the best places to ski this time of year, ensuring that your love for skiing doesn't have to hibernate until next winter.

      spring skiing

      1. The Rocky Mountains, USA:
The Rocky Mountains in the United States offer some of the best late-season skiing opportunities. Resorts like Aspen, Vail, and Breckenridge in Colorado, and Jackson Hole in Wyoming, often have snow well into May and sometimes even June. The high altitude and cold temperatures help preserve the snow, providing excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding.

Plus, you can enjoy breathtaking mountain views while you carve down the slopes.

      2. Whistler Blackcomb, Canada:
Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Canada, is renowned for its vast terrain and reliable snowfall throughout the season. Even in late spring, you can still find plenty of snow here, thanks to its high elevation and favourable climate.

With over 8,000 acres of skiable terrain and a variety of runs for all skill levels, Whistler Blackcomb offers an unforgettable skiing experience. Don't miss the chance to explore the stunning backcountry and enjoy the vibrant village atmosphere.

      3. The Alps, Europe:
In Europe, the Alps are a haven for late-season skiers. Resorts in countries like France, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy often have snow well into May and June, especially at higher elevations.

Places like Chamonix, Zermatt, St. Anton, and Cortina d'Ampezzo offer a mix of challenging slopes, charming villages, and delicious cuisine. Whether you're looking for steep couloirs, wide-open pistes, or cozy après-ski spots, the Alps have it all.

      4. New Zealand:
While it may be autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, it's just the beginning of the ski season in New Zealand. Resorts on the South Island, such as Queenstown and Wanaka, typically open in June and offer excellent skiing conditions through September.

With stunning alpine scenery, well-groomed slopes, and a laid-back atmosphere, New Zealand is a fantastic destination for late-season skiing. Plus, you can combine your ski trip with other outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and bungee jumping.

      5. Chile and Argentina:
In the Southern Hemisphere, Chile and Argentina boast some of the longest ski seasons in the world. Resorts in the Andes Mountains, such as Valle Nevado, Portillo, and Cerro Catedral, often operate from June to October, with reliable snowfall and sunny days.

Skiing in the Andes offers a unique experience, with breathtaking views of the mountains and the opportunity to immerse yourself in South American culture. After a day on the slopes, relax with a glass of Chilean wine or savour a traditional Argentine barbecue.

Don't let the end of winter stop you from enjoying your favourite winter sport. With plenty of options for late-season skiing around the world, you can extend your ski season well into spring and even summer.

      spring skiing

Whether you prefer the towering peaks of the Rocky Mountains, the vast terrain of Whistler Blackcomb, the charm of the European Alps, or the adventure of the Southern Hemisphere, there's a destination waiting for you. So pack your bags, wax your skis, and hit the slopes for an unforgettable skiing adventure.

And if you're looking for a unique experience, don't forget to consider booking an Alaskan cruise from Seattle for a combination of skiing and stunning coastal scenery.
