        Sneak peek at next year's gear: Petzl lighting, crampons, ice axe and harness

        Petzl has a whack of new gear coming out this summer/fall and we got a first hand look at some of it at this winter's Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City. Lets take a closer look at the Petzl REACTIK+ Headlamp, Petzl Ride Ice Axe, Petzl LEOPARD FL Crampons and Petzl Altitude Harness. We'll be reviewing the Petzl REACTIK+ Headlamp this summer but in the mean time here are some specs/details on each product:


        Petzl REACTIK+ Headlamp

        Petzl REACTIK+ Headlamp
        Price: $109.95 US
        Available: July 2016

        With 300 lumens of power, the REACTIK + headlamp offers outdoor enthusiasts a compact, intelligent, connected, rechargeable solution. Thanks to the MyPetzl Light mobile app, the user may at any time consult his smart phone or tablet to check the remaining battery life and adapt the performance of the headlamp to the activity: trail running, mountaineering, trekking, bivouac. Download the profiles provided or create personalized ones. During the activity, with REACTIVE LIGHTING technology, REACTIK + analyzes the ambient light and adjusts brightness instantly to user requirements. Battery life is optimized and the manipulations reduced to a minimum! Weight: 115 grams. www.petzl.com

        - MyPetzl Light bluetooth-enabled app allows users to access battery life and adjust beam pattern, brightness and burn time

        - Activate and create lighting profiles to suit the activity

        - Headlamp comes with multi-activity lighting profile

        - Four additional profiles available with the MyPetzl Light app: trail running, mountaineering, trekking, bivouac

        - Light sensor automatically adjusts brightness and beam pattern, optimizing battery use

        Petzl Ride Ice Axe

        Petzl Ride Ice Axe

        Petzl's new RIDE ice axe is lightweight enough (read: just 240 grams) to go everywhere with you on your next ski touring or glacier travel adventure. The RIDE achieves solid placement thanks to its all-steel head, bent shaft, and tapered pick; 3 mm for good penetration in ice. Compact: with only 45 cm and a beveled spike, the axe can be carried inside the pack.

        - Ice axe with steel head offers the same performance as a classic ice axe

        - Pick tapered to 3 mm at the end for good penetration in ice

        - Curved shaft and machined grip for good handling

        - Very lightweight: only 240 g

        - Compact: with only 45 cm and a beveled spike, the axe can be stowed inside the pack: 

        - reduces the risk of injury when the axe is attached to the outside of the pack

        Very light due to their aluminum construction, LEOPARD FL crampons are designed for snow approaches. The CORD-TEC flexible linking system minimizes bulk for ease of carrying. The FLEX LOCK binding system is very well suited for use with hiking and approach shoes, without heel or toe welts. www.petzl.com

        - Crampons made entirely of aluminum, optimized for snow travel

        - Very lightweight (only 360 grams per pair)

        - CORD-TEC flexible linking system optimizes volume of crampons when packed in their bag (included) - tool-free length adjustment

        Petzl ALTITUDE Harness

        Petzl ALTITUDE Harness

        The ultra-light, high-performance ALTITUDE harness (read: just 150 grams) features Petzl’s award-winning WIREFRAME technology construction and an easy-to-don design that makes it the perfect go-to harness for mountaineering and skiing adventures. Four ultra-light equipment loops integrate into the harness to minimize interference when wearing a backpack. Leg loops come with keepers for positioning ice screws. www.petzl.com
