      Jimmy Styks Paddle Boards

Jimmy Styks has been designing and manufacturing stand up paddle boards since 2009 with the goal of making the sport accessible to everyone. They’ve done this by providing a wide array of boards at very reasonable price points—we’re talking the sub $1000 range. All of their inflatables SUP’s include a pump, bag, leash and paddle so you’re ready to get on the water right away.

At Outdoor Presscamp in Deer Valley last week I was able to paddle pretty much all of the boards listed below and I’d have to say my favourite was the Miler epoxy board for its speed and the inflatable Strider for its versatility and durability.

Jimmy Styks Stand Up Paddle Board
For 2018 Jimmy Styks inflatable line-up will include several new boards, here are a few that we got the low-down on at Presscamp:

Jimmy Styks Mutt Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: $449 US
The Mutt is Jimmy Styks entry-level inflatable board which has an incredibly reasonable price given that it includes a pump, bag, leash and even a paddle. The Mutt is a wide board that’s durable and super easy to paddle which makes it ideal for beginners.

Jimmy Styks Asana Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price $649 US
The Asana is a wide, stable board which makes it ideal for Paddleboard Yoga. It comes with a pump, bag, leash and paddle.

Jimmy Styks Puffer Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: $699 US
The Puffer is one of Jimmy Styks touring boards which are ideally suited for long distance paddles and multi-day trips. The Puffer is thinner and thus less stable than the Mutt but it also tracks and glides better. It comes with a pump, bag, leash and paddle.

Jimmy Styks Strider Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: $749 US
Another touring board from Jimmy Styks is the Strider. Probably my favourite inflatable in the line-up, the Strider was fast and efficient on the water while still being relatively stable for those who have not much paddling experience. I’d choose this board if you are looking for a reasonably priced inflatable SUP ideal for multi-day and long distance paddles. It comes with a pump, bag, leash and of course paddle.

Jimmy Styks Stand Up Paddle Board
Jimmy Styks also has a few epoxy boards in their line-up, these are their more performance orientated boards, geared towards the seasoned paddler, however, beginners will still find them fun and relatively easy to paddle as well.

Jimmy Styks Miler Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: $1099US
The Miler was my over-all favourite board in the Jimmy Styks line-up as it was able to track well while still being versatile and fun. It’s available in an 11’6” and 12’6” version depending on your length preference. The Miler includes a bag, leash and paddle—all for the very reasonable price of just over a thousand dollars.

Jimmy Styks Surge Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: TBD
The Surge is all great all round hard board that’s a little more stable than the Miler, so it’s better suited to new paddlers who value increased stability over speed and just want an easy to paddle SUP. It comes in 11’4” and 10’4” lengths with the later version being called the mystic.

Jimmy Styks NXT Iron Hide Stand Up Paddle Board
      Price: $399US
The NXT Iron Hide is a blow moulded rigid board that’s pretty much indestructible. It’s made with high-density polyethene (HDPE) foam so it can take a beating from rocks, sandy beaches and everything else you can throw at it. Given its durable, super solid construction it’s ideal for recreational paddlers and rental fleets. It has a low price point so it’s easy to afford, especially when you consider it also comes with a leash and paddle.
