      Catalyst Waterproof Case Review

      Summer Mini-Reviews
Rather than go on and on about a piece of gear, we’ve prepared these mini-reviews to quickly illustrate what we like or dislike about a piece of gear that you might be in the market for. These are quick-read-format reviews that won’t take more than a couple of minutes to read so that you can quickly get up to speed on the good, the bad and the ugly of gear we’ve tested.
While there are several options when it comes to phone cases, Catalyst provides not only protection but also has some of the best features, which can be found in both their Waterproof Cases and Impact Protection Cases. The Waterproof Case not only provides fully sealed and submersible protection up to a depth of 33 feet or 10 meters, but it is also made of impact-resistant and scratch-proof polycarbonate which means that it exceeds the military standards for shocks and drops up to 6.6 feet or 2 meters. On top of this, the Waterproof Case can be cleaned with water and disinfected with 70% alcohol as there is no danger of damaging the surface or getting moisture into any of the ports. The most unique and cool feature of Catalyst Cases has to be their patented rotating mute toggle switch, which turns your phone's flip switch into a rotary switch, making it much more convenient and easy to use.

If you don’t need the waterproof protection of the Catalyst Waterproof Case then their Impact Protection Case is the one for you. It is lighter less expensive (only $39.99US) and rated for 1 more meter of drop protection and also has an exposed phone face for direct touchscreen access.

It has been reported that a skydiver recently dropped his phone from 14,000 feet and it survived thanks to the catalyst case that was protecting it. What more proof do you need, these cases are tough and can easily protect your precious phone.

      Verdict:
Phone cases are a product that we use every day but quickly forget about and that’s the point. They do their job of protecting our valuable phones without us even knowing. I’ve been using the Catalyst Impact Protection Case for several months now after my old case (from another brand) delaminated and no longer functioned properly. I chose to use the Impact Protection Case over the Waterproof Case as I just don’t ever take my phone near water and it was a little heavier and bulkier. The Impact Protection Case provides the protection I need in case I drop my phone (which I do often) and the rotary dial for muting the phone’s volume is an innovative little addition. At just $49.99CAN / $39.99US, it provides great value and protection in a nicely understated design.

      Pros:
      • Simple and easy-to-use design.
      • Impact protection.
      • Rotating Mute Toggle is so convenient.
      Cons:
      • The upper volume button is sticky.
