The NEW Black Diamond Rhythm Tee
This spring Black Diamond launched an innovate new shirt called the Rhythm Tee. So what makes this Tee so special you ask. For starters it's made with NuYarn at a thickness of 95 g/m2 which is about one-third the weight of your standard lightweight merino base layer which typically comes in at 150 g/m2.
NuYarn is a combination of merino fibres which are wrapped around a nylon core, this new miracle fabric turns out to be 57% nylon and 43% merino. It’s soft to the touch with a slight texture and is surprisingly airy and light. Thanks to the merino/nylon blend the Rhythm Tee is not only comfy it also has an impressive stretch which is 35% more than merino wool alone and a dry time that is five times faster, and did I mention it’s 47% stronger. It seems that NuYarn provides the benefits of both fabrics. The nylon makes it light and tough while providing effective moisture management properties while the merino wool provides odour-resistance and temperature regulation.
The Woolmark Company created NuYarn and worked with Black Diamond to create the Rhythm Tee. While several other brands are also working with NuYarn, Black Diamond is the first to create a base layer that claims to be the “world’s lightest technical merino wool shirt”. And, Black Diamond has no plans on stopping there—they have big plans for NuYarn and will be reportedly introducing a NuYarn Hoody for men as well as heavyweight NuYarn gloves this fall.
