The New Arva Transceiver Line Up - VIDEO

Arva is a French company that most North American’s probably have not yet heard of, even though they have been around for 35 years now. They started in 1985 by making the Arva 4000, the first French analogue transceiver for a ski-touring market that at the time did not even exist. Today, Arva designs, manufactures and sells a line of shovels, probes, backpacks, back protection, and other ski touring accessories.

      Arva Transceivers

Backcountry Skiing Canada got to spend some time with Arva transceivers last week at Solitude Ski Resort in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. We had the opportunity to use and test the Arva Evo 5, Evo 4 and new Neo Pro transceivers while ski touring from Solitude to Alta and back again via Brighton Ski Resort. Have a watch of the following overview video and for more info on each Arva transceiver keep on reading.

      Arva Neo Pro
This is the newest transceiver in the Arva line and also the most powerful. It has the largest search strip width at 70m in digital mode with this extending to 80m in analogue mode. It has all the same great features of other Arva transceivers in addition to Standby Mode and a Scrolling Function.

Standby Mode means that the transceiver is neither searching nor transmitting which allows the user to work the avalanche scene without their transceiver interfering with the ongoing search. The return to transmit function will automatically switch the Arva Neo Pro back to transmit mode should there be a secondary avalanche.

The Scrolling Function allows you to select a signal to follow based on its proximity to you starting with the closest, which means you can be more efficient and organized in your search efforts.

      Features:
      70m search strip width
      Group check
      Mark function
      Automatic revert-to-transmit mode
      Digital and Analog signal processing
      Multiple burial indicator (3+)
      Auto-check
      Interference management
      U-Turn alarm
      Backlit screen
      Standby Mode
      Scrolling Function

      Price:  $473.00 / $359.95US
Weight: 170g (including wrist strap and batteries)

      Arva Neo Pro
      Arva Evo 5
This is Arva’s smallest transceiver but don’t let the size fool you as it is packed with functionality and technology. A 3 position slider switch, an extra-large screen and a central marking button make it easy to operate while still being small enough to carry in your ski pant pocket without a harness.

      Features:
      50m search strip width
      Group check
      Mark function
      Automatic revert-to-transmit mode
      Digital signal processing
      Multiple burial indicator (3+)
      Auto-check
      Interference management
      U-Turn alarm
      Backlit screen

      Price: $385.00CAN / $319.95US
Weight: 170g (including wrist strap and batteries)

      Arva Evo 5
      Arva Evo 4
This is Arva’s workhorse transceiver that has been in their line-up for several years and proven itself as an effective product at a very reasonable price point. It is said to be the least expensive transceiver that has multiple marking capabilities and does everything else that you'd want a transceiver to do.

      Features:
      Digital signal processing
      40m search strip width
      Auto-check
      Group check
      Mark function
      Multiple burial indicator (3+)
      3 Antennas

      Price: $259.95US
      Weight: 240g  (including batteries)

      Arva Evo 4
If you are in the market for a new transceiver then consider the Arva products mentioned above—the company has the history and technology to prove their worth,... and the price points are pretty friendly too.
