    • Helly Hansen Odin Ultimate Infinity Jacket

Imagine you are standing at the base of a 1,000-meter climb, the skin track stretching up into wind-scoured ridges and biting cold. You need a shell that works as hard as you do—something that breathes during the anaerobic grind of the ascent but stands like a fortress against the biting wind at the top. This is where the Odin Ultimate Infinity lives. Within the Helly Hansen Odin collection this jacket serves as the high-output, minimalist specialist. While other shells in the line are built for stationary work or heavy descent-only days, the Ultimate Infinity is stripped down for the fast-and-light athlete. It was launched for the Fall/Winter 2025/2026 season, and was developed with direct input from mountain guides to bridge the gap between absolute storm protection and the lightweight packability. It sits firmly in our Technical section of our hard shell jackets.

For those earning their turns on the skin track or navigating steep alpine ridges, the Odin Ultimate Infinity Jacket offers a balanced blend of performance and simplicity. The standout feature is the LIFA INFINITY™ Membrane. This professional-grade waterproof and breathable membrane is a game-changer for high-output activities. Unlike traditional shells, it is made without chemical solvents and provides a permanent water-repellent performance that never requires a DWR re-treatment. This means the jacket will not wet out over time, ensuring you stay dry during extended climbs in heavy snow or rain.

Weighing in at approximately 400g (size Medium), it is significantly lighter than standard 3-layer shells. It packs down small, making it an essential piece of gear that lives comfortably in your pack until the weather turns. The jacket features two decent sized chest pockets that are positioned high to remain accessible even while wearing a backpack or climbing harness. Integrated underarm pit zips allow for immediate heat dumping during intense aerobic efforts, such as trail breaking or steep ascents, preventing internal moisture buildup.

The helmet-compatible hood is designed to fit securely over a ski or climbing helmet and features multiple adjustment points to maintain peripheral vision. For added safety, an integrated RECCO® reflector increases your searchability in the wilderness, providing an extra layer of peace of mind for backcountry travelers.

In terms of durability, the 3-layer construction is remarkably robust despite its light weight. The fabric feels softer and quieter than traditional crunchy hardshells, which enhances comfort during long days of movement. The LIFA INFINITY technology is particularly durable because its water repellency is an inherent property of the fibers rather than a surface coating that can wear off. The articulated sleeves provide excellent mobility, allowing for overhead movements without the hem lifting.
