Whitewater's White Queen is DEEP.

With over 160cm's of fresh in the last 5 days at the powder vortex known locally as Whitewater Ski Resort it was due time to head out into the backcountry to check out the goods.

Their was a recent wind event that played havoc with the dumpage that occurred on "epic Thursday" as it is now known. This is when 45cm's of blower pow fell over night on top of the already 69cm's from the previous three days. Cold temps brought the snow in fluffy light but then there was that wind that rolled in by days end.

Needless to say we were apprehensive to venture out of bounds with all of this new snow and now wind loading. Thoughts of thigh deep trail breaking and deadly wind slabs came to mind as we made the morning call to hit White Queen for a lap. Would it be "wind F#$&ed" as one local had once told me, too deep breaking trail to make the ski down worth the effort or simply consolidated into a single slab that would make the risk not worth the reward.

Only one way to find out.

I will leave the verdict up to you but I think it is obvious,… it was no fun at all.
