Whitewater's Coldsmoke Powderfest is coming!

Mark your calendars - February 22nd to 23rd as these will be three days of everything backcountry, including the ROAM Rando Rally and the Valhalla Pure Powder Keg Slopestyle event. There are also courses on everything you could imagine and local legend Greg Hill will be on hand as well.

Mother Nature has a track record of delivering the goods for this aptly named event and this year will hopefully continue the tradition.

Although its been a little dry this past week have no fear, the Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Fest never disappoints. In the two years that we have been a sponsor of the event it has dumped each time and I have a feeling this year will be no different. Last years event saw 62cm of pow fall throughout the three days, so much snow that it made the ROAM Rando Rally even more difficult than normal but was a boon for the Valhalla Pure Powder Keg Slopestyle event.

The year before last was incredibly cold and saw sunny skies for the first two days but once again the snow was delivered just in time. It started puking Sunday morning and continued all day at a feverish pace, it didn't take much given the deep freeze temps as all the pow fell as true Kootenay Coldsmoke, light and fluffy. The following day (post festival) the snow kept coming and the resort and backcountry skiing was pretty amazing. Check out pics from the event here and relive it all over again.
