Powder Hounds
Dogs are natural skiers. I was out with the humans last week. It was a bright, sunny day. Maybe even a bit too hot for my thick coat, but I could lay in the snow and cool off. There was about 30 cm of fresh powder and I was punching through in places on the up track, making for difficult going.
Going down was a different story. I would start out by bounding through the deep stuff, only my head sticking out in some places. I follow the ski lines to make it a bit easier. But when it gets steep, that’s when I go for the freshies. I stretch my front legs downhill and the back legs behind me and seal slide. I can twist my body to turn. I sometimes get in trouble for poaching the good powder lines. I even follow the humans off of drops and jumps.
I am the real powder hound. I’ve posted a video of me ripping the steeps…here’s a couple photos of the humans too.
