      Toronto. Hello? Anyone (anyone) ((anyone))

I'm willing to accept there is no one on this forum in Southern Ontario. But on the off chance there is, I'm keen to make a go of practicing this sport on weekends here, with a view to eventually adventuring in New England, Quebec and BC.

Was fortunate to have the chance to climb Vancouver's Mount Seymour -- truly stunning climb. Rented AT skies from MEC.

I figure, if there's a woodsy, quiet trail up a summit like Blue Mountain's, doing it twice is a little more than doing Seymour once -- good workout, fresh air, and an opportunity to develop technique (plus, get 2 free runs down a hill like Blue!).

      Anyone in a similar situation?

I would be interested in joining you. I too feel the call to try some backcountry skiing but find myself living in a.....shall we say less than ideal location. I have to add I have no idea of any locations or routes. Perhaps someone else can point us in the right direction. There has to be something out there.

That vid looks good. Anyone know where that was?????

I'd like to join too! I just purchased AT gear this year. I've been a few times in QC and I skied downhill last year quite a bit.

I'm in the GTA and will be for the next few years so I'm looking for folks to train with and potentially do long trips elsewhere.

Have you been to Blue yet? Did anyone comment when you were travelling uphill?

I know it's a year later but anyone in the south west Ontario area still looking to do some alpine(???) touring?

      Hello,

I am planning on going alpine touring this coming week-end. I have a car and would be leaving from downtown Toronto. You're welcome to join me if you want to.

I am planning on going to the Adirondacks, NY.

It's a new year and I'm looking forward to another great ski season. I know there are several who have posted here expressing interest in a little BC skiing in Ontario. Has anyone had any good results? Any nice trails to check out?

I just moved back home to Toronto after 5 years in Vancouver – weekly ski touring up seymour, hollyburn, Elfin, Russet. Ugh. I miss it!

Seymour was awesome, but I think 2x blue mountain is still less than getting up to first pump from the parking lot? Maybe.

Now my AT gear is just sitting here staring at me with nowhere to use it too :(

I'd be totally up to getting a group together and going places within a few hours of Toronto. I'm fairly intermediate but that's not much of a problem in Ontario given the largest hills are prob 'easy'. At least there's 0 avi risk here.

Now vermont would be amazing, but that's 5-8 hours drive.

Anyway, I'd be totally up for doing some nearby hills, even if it's just a few laps up and down. Glen Eden looks like it could be easy to climb on the side and is only 45 min from town.

I did find this club which I'm thinking of joining in the meantime: http://www.skifivewinds.org/

They leave from Toronto on weekly trips on Sunday.

Glad to see I'm not the only one longing for the West. I grew up in Calgary and skied Banff my whole life before moving to Ontario. I refer to it as chair lifting because frankly we spend more time on the chair lift than we do on the slopes. I'm not complaining though. There is still a lot of worse ways to have to spend the day. I make the most of it, it still puts a smile on my face and the end of the day beers taste just as good here as they do out west.

I'm am completely down with setting up a crew and seeing what we can find in Ontario. I'd also be willing to venture into NY for a longer road trip.

Maybe we can set up a new topic to arrange such a thing. We'll have to keep an eye on the weather etc. but I think it's possible to find some good turns. All be it shorter.

I'm a little further away in Windsor but willing to make the trek up to the Toronto area.

      Hi

Sarnia area here, took up splitboarding last year and hoping to find some touring partners. Guessing there are areas around Kimberley off the Bruce Trail. The North shore of Quebec has much to offer also.

      Hi Everyone,

I know this post is quite old, but I am looking for people willing to join me on weekend (2-3 days or more...) trips to chase some good Backcountry conditions leaving from Toronto.

I currently go to Blue Mountain and Mount StLouis resorts but I miss higher peaks and better powder conditions so some company would be much appreciated as I do not know the good places within 6:00 drive from Toronto.

Oh boy... I miss my French Alps lol

      Hi Julien,

Ça gaz...I`m planning a little outing in near Killarney. It`s more exploratory so it`s a  day trip. Considering the remoteness of the place, I`m fussy with weather and snow depth since it`s a bit of a hike to get there. When these align I take-off. Let me know if that would interest you as I would prefer not to venture alone.

      Hi Freebeez,
The new season is on now... Please let me know when you are thinking of heading up there, I am very interested in joining you!
I was also checking places in Qc and Vermont too.
