      New to backcountry... wanting to learn and travel with others in Ontario and Quebec

      Hey all,
      New to this so not sure if this is the place to write. I'm in flat Kitchener Ontario and looking to connect with others both in Ontario and possibly a trip to Quebec if others are interested. I am relatively new to backcountry skiing ( a bit in NZ and Chile) and totally new to alpine skiing so I'm really interested in learning from others, having fun and hopefully getting to Quebec in February or March if others are interested. I don't know anyone else who does this, so doing this safely with others has been a roadblock. I've got skis/boots/skins/etc but not any of the further gear yet. I'd love to connect with others. Thanks and looking forward to keeping the conversation going! -Brandon

      Hey Brandon, 

      I've got you beat on the flat side. I'm in Windsor so even flatter than Kitchener. I'm always looking for someone to go out with. I've heard there are some places around the escarpment that are skiable but I've never tried to find them. There is also some places in Michigan that can be skied if there is enough snow. Some abandoned ski hills and power line cuts. 

      The biggest issue is the forests around here are too thick to cut a line through. It makes it hard. However, they do cut some glades in places near Rochester, NY and Vermont. That would likely be the closest option. 

      Either way, if you're serious about going out and trying to find some lines let me know. I'll join in the adventure. Even if it's more bushwacking than skiing.

      Hey Tyler,
      Thanks for the reply. I grew up in Michigan and that's where I got into some hiking/ skiing, etc. There was a ski resort called Sugar Loaf that shut down and was where I first got into some powder skiing. Northwest Michigan if you are ever around there.
