      NZ SkiTourer

Hi All Im coming from NZ to ski the Can rockies from mid-march, 3 weeks,  solo in  a camper.

All  the shorter alpine Guided  tours are full. So I  have    no tours set up . So  resort based skiing for now.

So if  you wanna catch up in the  Nakiska to  Reve  area,  over that period pm or let  me  know.
Im  an advanced / never-expert  skier & tourer,  exp  in  bc in  NZ, Au, Japan. [  also big  on mtb  and  yachting]  Be  fun to  swap  stories. Up  for any  Sides/ Back / o'n Hut touring .

The  other Q is  ,  I  need regulars advice on my Ski choice !
Have Line Sir Francis Bacons, 184cm x 108mm, [with Barons and skins , a 90% dh ski; great for late NZ spring or Japow; ]
      OR
      bring Volkl BMTs, 186cm x 94mm long straight effective edges, a fine liteweight 50/50 up/dh ski ,

      Appreciate thoughts, cheers
      ~ SjY

If you plan on touring at all outside of the resort bring the BMT's. I ski 95's most days here and still have a decent time.

108's would be better if we get a storm while you're here but who can say? You can always rent a fat BC ski. Or, bring both?

Closer to the date of arrival you can probably find partners on Facebook groups and this site. Most people won't commit to long term plans because conditions will change the day before or even the morning of.

Haha thanks  ,  the  Bmts  get  me 3kg  extra  checkin luggage =  bring some extra  touring  kit, but they  would  be   more  challenging  in pow

      Hi SjY!

I will be skiing the Canadian Rockies solo for a week from March 29th, and I would love a touring partner if you are still around. I'll be staying in Canmore, but I can drive to join you. I'm also big on MTB, and my next skiing destination is NZ! I would love to hear about touring in NZ. Shoot me an email if you want to hang out

      Hi SjY,

Hope you enjoyed your trip. Sorry for the lack of contact - due to avalanche conditions while I was in Revy, I didn't do any touring. Epic avalanche cycle right now, as you probably gathered from the bulletins.

All the best, and stay safe.
