So You Want To Be A Guide?

What does it take to become an ACMG guide in 2020? While many consider this to be a dream career the path isn't obvious as more traditional education routes can be. You cannot simply enroll in university to get a degree in ski guiding or a master's in mountain guiding, so how do you do it?  The guides over at Yamuska Mountain Adventures have been putting a  weekly guide chat over on Facebook about various topics. This week the topic was the process, requirements and a little reality check for those thinking about a career in guiding. As someone who is currently in the ACMG training and assessment program, I can attest that this chat accurately depicts the financial, physical and social challenges this process entails.  While I don't normally like to push people over to Facebook unfortunately this is the only place I could find this chat.
