Red Bull Cold Rush
If you haven't heard about cold rush there's a good chance you live under a rock or maybe just aren't into that sort of thing. Either way The Redbull Cold rush has been non existent the last few seasons with an attempt at a resurrection last winter. Revelstoke Mountain resort was the new chosen venue but a series of "pineapple express " systems forced the event to be rescheduled and ultimately canceled. This year we have been blessed with ample cold and productive systems leading up to the event. Unfortunately so much so that the slopestyle course was literally buried and had to be cancelled, again. Poor visibility cancelled the summit assault portion which was a ski touring competent of the event leaving only the big mountain and cliffs event. Some impressive lines were skied on the big mountain venue located just out of bounds of RMR and the cliff day held some nail biting tumbles again located on the backside of Kokanee bowl.
The Collingson siblings taking home top prize in their respective categories may not be a surprising outcome to most of us but some might disagree with the judges decisions. The beauty of cold rush is that we the viewers have our say on who performed best with the peoples choice awards. Take a few minutes and show your support for your favorite athletes. This is a unique and progressive contest format that i personally would like to see continue in the future.
