Powder Creek Lodge - oh what a week!
The Backcountry Skiing Canada crew rounded out our week at Powder Creek with an additional 16cm of the light-n'-fluffy white stuff. We spent Friday lapping a route called "First Wish" which is only 600' of vert but offers a great pitch of safe tree skiing. We got a little carried away and lapped that sucker eight times which Heather (one of the owners of Powder Creek Lodge) says is likely some sort of record. For us it was just too good to stop.
Saturday brought another storm system which delayed our exit from Powder Creek but also dumped an additional 15-20cm of snow for the incoming crew. After a few attempts to get the heli in we finally caught the last heli out and flew back to civilization, direct to Nelson and the wet welcome of rain.
Sunday was integration back into 'normal life' and with 20cm of fresh at Whitewater there was no chance of missing out. Our week at Powder Creek can best be summarized by a conversation I had on the Silver King Chair with a friend when he asked how I found the skiing at Whitewater that day after the 20cm dump. I replied "It's pretty good, but this is the worst day of skiing I have had in seven days".
