Limbo Lodge - Glacier National Park

Recently I passed through Glacier National Park and was disappointed, yet again, to see the Glacier park lodge still boarded up and abandoned. Since 2012 this seemingly fine (although steadily deteriorating) building which once served as a resting place and backcountry basecamp for hikers & backcountry skiers has been closed due to legal proceedings between previous owners, new owners and Parks Canada. Not much progress has been made and the backcountry users and tourists passing through this beautiful land are the real losers here.

It is a sad state of affairs. In the middle of Rogers Pass at the sumit a rest place and or the beginning of your anytime adventure and ba bam, CLOSED. Boo to all those involved as this place needs to be open 24/7 year round. My memories of ski touring in the 80/90's parked in the lot amungst new and old friends. Bring the past back with a modern outllok, it can work.
