NEW: Big Agnes Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Pad

Sleeping Mats have come a long, long way over the past decade. Not only are they now insulated but they’re also far more comfortable to lay on considering you can get them as fat as 9cm. Gone are the days of cold and thin ‘Thermarest’ that barely mask protrusions from the ground and take up most of your pack when not in use.

Big Agnes has always been a leader in tent and sleeping bag design and we’ve reviewed a variety of them including the Big Agnes Lost Lake SL30 Sleeping Bag, the Big Agnes Lost Ranger 15 Sleeping Bag, the Big Agnes Mystic Sleeping Bag, the Big Agnes Fly Creek Platinum Tent, and the Big Agnes Slater UL 2 Tent.

Big Agnes also offers a large range of sleeping mats and to date we’ve reviewed the Big Agnes Q-Core and Q-Core SL Sleeping Pads. This week Big Agnes just released the new Big Agnes Aircore Ultra Insulated sleeping Pad. This mat features a super tough (but not heavy) Double Rip-stop Fabric to help prevent leaks and blow-outs. The fabric is held together with an Aviation grade TPU Lamination and to help with inflation and deflation there are now two valves. There’s a one way inflation valve with a micro air pressure adjust button and then a second valve for rapid deflation. This lets you deflate the Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Mat in a flash.

I’ve been camping on the Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Mat for the past month and am impressed at how small it packs down. Since I am 6’1” I’ve been using the 51×182cm / 20×72” version and it packs down to just 12.7×20cm / 5×8”—that’s small! The pad also includes heat reflective technology to help retain heat and is insulated with WRM HL synthetic insulation to provide a temperature rating of -9.5°C / 15°F.

      Big Agnes Aircore Ultra

Given how tough and warm the Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Mat is I’m equally impressed at how light it is. At just 595g / 21oz this mat won’t weigh down your pack.

The best feature of the Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Mat however has to be it’s price. At just under $100 US (that’s $149.30 CAN these days) it’s one of the most economical mats on the market.

If you’re looking for a durable, light weight, comfortable mat that packs down to an itsy-bitsy size then the you best give the Big Agnes Aircore Ultra Insulated Sleeping Mat a look-see.

Curious... How is the noise level. Other similar style mats are SUPER noisey and annoying!!

Not this one, the fabric is thicker and tougher than most so it's not shiny and noisey like the Thermarest or Sea To Summit Mats. You should check this one out!
