    • How To Pack Ski Equipment for a Flight

How To Pack Ski Equipment for a Flight

Ski gear can be a costly investment, so when you travel to ski, ensure that you pack it properly. Here's our guide to packing your ski gear.

Nothing says “cozy and festive” or “let's beat the heat” like a ski escape. The stunning views, the roaring fireplaces, fresh powder, and apres ski activities are all a wonderful break from the humdrum of daily life, but a lot of work goes into planning for a trip, especially the packing portion. We’re going to share all the ski essentials with you, as well as how to pack them safely and where to use them in 2025.

    Packing Ski Equipment

Most Popular Ski Destinations in 2025

Planning a ski trip but not sure which destination is the one for you? Book an air charter flight to any of these ski destinations and enjoy some of the most popular skiing in the world. Each comes with its own unique character and scenery.

    • Val Thorens, France. Consistently awarded Best Ski Resort in Europe, it offers exceptional skiing for skiers of all skill levels, as well as some truly majestic views.
    • Kitzbühel, Austria. Recognized as one of Europe’s top ski resorts, this getaway is particularly popular with the Instagram creator crowd.
    • Zermatt, Switzerland. What makes Zermatt so unique is that it's a car-free resort where you can experience the Matterhorn in all its glory.
    • Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Known as the "Queen of the Dolomites," this resort is a prime location for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Thanks to the infrastructure upgrades that have taken place over the course of the year, 2025 is an excellent time to visit.
    • Whistler, Canada. Well known all over America and worldwide, Whistler has consistently ranked as one of the top ski resorts anywhere in the world.
    • Killington, USA. Affectionately called the "Beast of the East" thanks to its long season and deep snowpack, Killington is an incredibly popular spring break ski destination.
    • SkiBig3 (Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise, Mt Norquay), Canada. This Canadian destination is located within the picturesque Banff National Park, offering a direct connection to not just an incredible ski experience but the park’s other landscapes as well.

Gear: What Do You Really Need?

There's a lot on offer in terms of ski equipment and clothing, but what do you really need? If you’re a new skier or looking to streamline the gear you already own, here is a breakdown of what every skier really needs to own.

    Equipment

    • Skis and poles or a snowboard, as well as bindings. Make sure that the bindings you use are properly adjusted for your body weight and skill level.
    • Ski boots. This is another essential item, and it's imperative that they are well-fitted to avoid injury. Be sure to try on boots with a professional, as everyone’s feet require different fits and support.
    • Helmet. Falls or collisions are mitigated by a well-fitted, high-quality helmet. Some come with built-in Bluetooth capabilities, and some have vents for temperature control, if needed.
    • Avalanche safety kit. This is essential if you’re going backcountry skiing and should contain a probe, foldable shovel, and avalanche beacon.

    Clothing

    • Ski suit or jacket and pants. Go for an insulated, waterproof garment that features a breathable fabric for heat and cold exchange while zooming down your favourite mountain.
    • Undergarments. A good thermal suit or pants and top set will be moisture-wicking and keep you comfortable. Ski socks are also essential. Don't double up on regular socks, as this will cause discomfort.
    • Mid-layers. Choose fleece pieces for added comfort and warmth.
    • Mittens or gloves. Mittens are a good choice for extra warmth and for snowboarders, but most skiers choose gloves for added dexterity.
    • Goggles. The brightness of the snow, the cold, and the speed at which skiers move make goggles a must. UV protection keeps your eyes safe, and an anti-fog feature keeps your vision clear during your ski experience.

Did we miss something? Are we totally out to lunch? Let us know what you think. People like/dislike gear for different reasons so chime in below and we'll get a well-rounded evaluation. You'll need to login or register before you can comment but it only takes a few seconds, then you're good to go.
