    • Health Warrior Chia Bars

    Health Warrior Chia Bars

Health Warrior is not just another health bar, but also a company that believes “better health will build a stronger society”. Their Mission is to inspire healthy diet and exercise habits. They, three college friends and former collegiate athletes, started in 2010 after hearing the story of the Tarahumara Indians who, like the Aztecs before them, ate one of the most nutrient-dense foods on earth, Chia Seeds. Chia contains ample omegas, fibre, protein, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to sustain, not just the everyday you, but the “super you” as well. So kick off those desk shoes and jump into your runners to feel the health benefits that copulate healthy diets and an active lifestyle.

    Health Warrior Chia Bars

Health Warrior Chia Bars come in 9 varieties. They also sell 12 and 16oz bags of black chia seeds and have 4 different flavoured protein bars.

    Superfood Protein Bar

Featured here is the Dark Chocolate Coconut Sea Salt protein bar that is just as delicious as it sounds. Five grams of fibre, eight grams of fat and eleven grams of sugar make up one of the tastiest treats Health Warrior have to offer. The dark chocolate speaks for itself with a unique coconut flavour and a dash of sea salt. This bar will satisfy the loudest of rumbles in your stomach, and still keep you feeling light while on the move.

All protein bars by Health Warrior have ten grams of plant protein from chia, quinoa and oats. There is no soy, and no whey and it contains half the sugar of many other protein bars. They all have 2000mg of Omega-3 for a healthy treat on the go.

    Chia Bars

The health warrior chia bar series has a variety of nine different flavoured bars. These 100 calories superfood super snacks are all very similar in specs when it comes to fat, sugar, fibre, protein and omega-3. What they lack in size, they make up with delicious taste and healthy results.

The fruit pieces really stand out in this chia bar and have a deliciously fresh taste of mango.

    Verdict:

It is without a doubt that chia seeds pack a nutritional punch behind very little mass. So if portion control is something you value you likely won’t have a problem with these relatively small health bars. Ounce for ounce, chia seeds contain more omega-3s than salmon, more protein than egg and more fibre than flax seed. It is also high in calcium, magnesium and antioxidants. Chia expands in water so you will feel more full after eating, just be sure to be patient and hydrate before you go eat your entire stash of chia bars. The natural ingredients make most of these bars vegan (except one with honey), and gluten free to allow almost anyone with dietary restrictions to enjoy these. Health Warrior has “extremely thorough cleaning procedures for [their] equipment during manufacturing to avoid cross contamination,” however their bars are “manufactured in a plant where peanut products are manufactured.” So they suggest “reaching out to your health care provider or nutritionist before eating our bars.” Their customer service was timely and very helpful, and I would recommend these snack bars to anyone on the go.

    PROS:

    • Are available in variety packs for tropical flavours and chocolate lovers.
    • Chia Seeds are high in fibre and can keep you feeling full, longer.
    • When eaten with water can aid in digestion.
    • Gluten Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free.
    • Non GMO & Kosher Certified Vegan.

    CONS:

    • Chia Seeds get stuck in your teeth.
    • Can cause drop in diabolic blood pressure.
    • Chia Bars are quite small.
    • Packaging isn’t environmentally friendly.

    SPECS:

See above for individual product specification.
