A Few More Turns _ Avalanche Story -- VIDEO

Someone (Johnny P.) posted this on our FB site and I thought it was good enough to share with you, site visitors. The human factor is being acknowledged and studied as a key contributor in many accidents. Now is the time for a tune-up on your non-practical side of avy danger. Get smart and play safe(r).

This is some of the best pre-season time you can spend, give it a watch and take it all in. It will definitley give you something to think about and maybe keep you out of danger. Thanks for posting.

Johnny P gets the finders' fee. He brought it to our attention.

I have watched numerous avalanche videos not as a voyeur but for educational purposes on what one can expect or not expect in the backcountry and this one is a must see for ALL those who want to enjoy the backcountry.  I would even go as far to say as this type of imagery should be a mandatory watch imposed by ALL governing bodies for all those seeking backcountry certification. I have seen others with much more experience than this group be destroyed in an avalanche. This imagery conveys the HUMAN FACTOR in avalanches which is sometimes left out in other educational teachings as the mechanical science of avalanches is the primary focus.  Not to say it is not important but it is all for not, as was shown, when the HUMAN FACTOR is not taken into FULL consideration.  I applaud those who had the courage to relay this story in the hopes of making these types of experiences safer.  Gods healing hand on each of you.
