COMP - Sunny Daze

Sunshine and babes… seems to go together doesn’t it?  I love skiing with the boys, especially my husband.  Lets face it the boys push us to go harder, ski faster and jump higher.  For many women, their significant other was the one who got them into backcountry skiing in the first place.  Thank you for that!  Saying that there is something special when a bunch of girls get together in the backcounty.  We are a supportive bunch with whoops and cheers when we push the boundaries and patient when others struggle.   When I started mountaineering 12 years ago women in the backcountry were few and far between.  Now the mountains are filled with energetic, strong women, many becoming guides of the slopes.  The industry is still a male dominant one, but it makes me smile knowing that when I head out backcountry skiing there is a good chance I’ll see some girls along the way.

Note: In the video you will see a bunch of us skiing on a slope at the same time.  This is not recommended for safe backcountry skiing.  Slopes should be skied one at a time.  We felt confident to do this only because the avalanche hazard was low and there had been no new snow for many, many days.  Still not a good idea...
