      Favourite Kuhl Summer/Fall Apparel

Kuhl is a mountain apparel brand that makes a wide selection of lifestyle clothing for both men and women. Their Tag line “Born in the mountains” provides a hint of the durable and practical design foundation at the heart of every piece they create. Innovation doesn’t stop with the fabrics they develop or the features that once used you simply can no longer live without. Being one of my favourite outdoor clothing brands I wanted to highlight a few Summer/Fall pieces that impressed me on the trail and around town, namely the Kuhl Resistor Air Pant and the Kuhl Renegade Shorts. These were chosen due to their light weight and breathability which are crucial on hot summer days but also for their comfortable fit and stylish looks.

      Kuhl Resistor Air Pant
The Resistor Air Pants are as the name suggests lightweight summer pants and in fact, are the lightest pants that Kuhl makes so they are ideal for hot summer days on the trail. The built-in temperature-regulating features include zippered thigh openings to dump heat when needed along with a vented gusset found on the inner thigh of each leg. While these are great for allowing large amounts of heat to escape the Cotton, Nylon, and Spandex blended fabric has imprecise breathability and allows heat to continually dissipate. While this fabric is very light it still provides just enough durability so you can wear them hiking or climbing. Their articulation and stretch provide a comfortable overall fit with great mobility so they move with you during activities like hiking or biking. With a large elasticized waistband they stay in place comfortably and also won’t chafe or bite into your hips when wearing a pack. On the Resistor Air’s lower leg, you’ll find an adjustable leg taper that allows you to cinch them closed around your ankles to help keep dirt and debris out. You’ll also find a reflective tape for added safety at night. If you are more of a shorts person then Kuhl has you covered there with their Resistor Lite Chino Shorts.

      Kuhl Renegade Shorts
Like the Resistor Air Pants, the Renegade Shorts are soft, lightweight and breathable but have a more durable fabric and refined style for when you need to go from trail to dinner and still look good. Its abrasion-resistant Nylon/Spandex material can take a beating but if you happen to get them wet they still dry surprisingly quickly. Like all Kuhl pant sand shorts, the Renegade Shorts are designed to move with you thanks to their two-way stretch fabric and gusseted crotch. The Renegade Shorts have a Free Ryde waistband which is lined with a soft micro chamois for added comfort and moisture wicking. On the front, you’ll find two front mesh chino style pockets that also help dissipate heat build-up on hot summer days and there are two more pockets on the back with velcro closure. On the side of the Renegade’s there are two more mesh pockets to help dump heat and also protect your valuables thanks to their zipper closures. There are also two ways to carry your cell phone with the 3D cell phone pocket on the right-hand thigh and a stealth cell phone pocket on the left thigh. With all their features, comfortable fabric and fit, the Kuhl Renegade Shorts are super versatile and worth checking out.
