        Arc’teryx Vertex Alpine GTX Shoes
Arc’teryx has a new approach shoe for Spring 2024 called the Vertex Alpine GTX with the GTS standing for Gore-Tex, meaning that it is waterproof and breathable. To maximize durability, there is a built-in toe cap and a TPU shank which provides a stiff yet comfortable platform.

With a full Gore-Tex liner, you can be sure that any water and snow are kept at bay while your feet stay dry no matter the conditions. Other features include an integrated carabiner attachment points so you can easily carry them along on a climb when things get vertical and an integrated tongue pocket which helps ensure that your laces will not snag and untie. The Hoodie
The Hoodie is the sweater that started it all for PAKA, a company that was founded by Kris Cody in Peru that makes apparel from natural alpaca fibre. As PAKA states: “Our mission is to create natural, all-purpose clothing for people who love the outdoors. We’re doing this by innovating with alpaca fibre and other materials that are healthier for people and the planet so that consumers can connect to our natural world, make more conscious choices, and support the communities where our products come from.”

The Hoodie is made from start to finish in Peru with the alpaca fibre sourced from the outskirts of Puno, then dyed in the mountains of Arequipa, and hand-signed by the female artisan who wove it in Cusco. Alpaca fibre is used because it is super soft next to your skin, not unlike cashmere and does not have a prickly feel like some other natural fibres. It is hypoallergenic and free of lanolin, fire resistant and water resistant with a low absorption rate so it is ideal for high-energy activities since it naturally wicks water away from the skin. It also dries quickly and is naturally breathable, warm, soft and unusually comfortable.

Alpaca fibres are healthier for people and the planet and allow consumers to connect to our natural world by supporting the communities where the products come from—ultimately making more conscious choices is good for everyone.

The Hoodie is made from 65% Royal Alpaca Fibre which is super soft and comfortable, naturally antimicrobial and odour-resistant and 35% recycled nylon is added to increase durability.

The hoody is ideal for cold spring and fall days or as a mid-layer in winter. Around town, on the trail or the skin track. The Hoodie is a no-nonsense and versatile layer that makes you feel comfortable wearing it and knowing that you are supporting 100+ women in Peru.

        Rab Khroma Ascendor Softshell Pants
Spring means ski traverse season and that means long days in warmer weather and this is where the new Khroma Ascendor Softshell Pants from Rab excel. Traditional waterproof/breathable ski pants are great for skiing at the resort, particularly when it is cold and blustery outside, but when you need to crush vertical and regulate your temperature more effectively you want a softshell ski touring pant like the Kroma Ascendors. They are made from midweight, weather-resistant Matrix softshell fabric that is super stretchy and breathable—two qualities you really want for backcountry skiing. Rab packed the Khroma Ascendor Softshell Pants with heaps of features you want and none that you don’t. There are reinforced kick patches on the inside lower legs to resist scrapes from sharp ski edges or crampons. There are several useful YKK zippered pockets to be found on the Khroma Ascendor Softshell Pants including two hand pockets, a back pocket and a thigh pocket for your transceiver—complete with a transceiver clip. Arcade Atlas Belt
Already being a big fan of Arcade Belts due to their low-profile design which works really well under a lot of layers or a backpack hip belt, I was interested to check out their Atlas Belt with their patented A2 buckle. This new buckle design is easier to use and holds tension securely yet is easier to adjust when needed to dial in an exact fit. Like all of Arcade’s buckles, the A2 conforms to your body which means you won’t know it’s there and it won’t rub you the wrong way when you have a pack or harness on.

Arcade uses a super stretchy fabric in all their belts which are made up of 85% post-consumer recycled REPREVE polyester and 15% rubber. This fabric is made from repurposed post-consumer plastic bottles that would have otherwise ended up in landfills and instead give them a second life. Not only does this fabric make less of an impact on the environment, but it is also really durable and performs well over time.

If you are an adventurous person then check out Arcade’s line of Performance Stretch Belts, you can thank us later.
