Whitewater Ski touring Ascent Route – NEW

Since Whitewater is opening their new Glory Ridge Chair soon this means that the ski touring accent routes will be changing as the policy at Whitewater states that you MUST stay out of bounds if you are skinning up to go ski touring in and around Whitewater Ski Resort – unless of course you purchase a one ride to get you to the top of the lifts and then you can easily ski tour out of bounds from there.

Below you will see the map for the two ascent routes on each side of the ski hill which follow just outside of the Whitewater ski area boundary. Click the image to get a better view.

We touredevening ridge last weekend, what a great first time exposure to the whitewater area.  Came across some great conditions and even some clear skies. Looking over to Ymir peak was enough to cause a repeat reservation at the Whitehouse backpacker lodge over new years weekend.

New Access Routes:  Never experienceing the old access routes, how do these compare, the access line under white queen I would think has remained unchanged.  Are there parking issues to use access on the boundry under white queen?

I guess is there anything I should know about if we wanted to use the access lines highlighted on the map in the post?

It is always best to check in with the Whitewater Patrol to get the official word on how and where to climb up outside of Whitewater's boundary – but I can tell you that the access for the Silver King side and up to White Queen has not changed since lat year.

The access up the Summit Side and now the new Glory Ridge side has changed considerably. As the map above shows you need to stay outside of the new boundary and as far as I know you may be the first to access routes via the new ascent route so let us know how it goes?

For parking to access White Queen you can either climb the west ridge via Humming Bird Pass and then park at the Humming Bird Pull Out about 1.5 km before the resort parking or park in the cross country lot on your left as soon as you hit the resort area.

Hope this helps, and as always check in with patrol to get the official word, enjoy!
