Jan 16 WhiteQueen VID/PICS

After three weeks of snow and cloud the sun finally came out again – so we took full advantage of the opportunity to get out and ski White Queen before it got sun baked and we would have to wait until the next cycle did it's magic.

The top 1/5 of the mountain was wind blasted which is to be expected given it's prominence and the recent winds we have had, the middle 3/5 were really nice with about 20cm of light fluffy snow and the bottom 1/5 was starting to bake in the sun and was heavier and wind scoured so it made for some challenging turns.

I fear that after today the sun will have cooked the bottom half and this will form a nice solid crust for those that choose to ski it after today.

Overall, a great day to be out touring and glad to have beat the crowds to White Queen as it was well worth the effort.
