Jan 02 Mt Beattie and Evenning Ridge
Went up Mt Beattie. On the way up we saw a lot of fracture lines and had a lot of whumphing. On top we met a group of KMC people who dug a pit which confirmed the extreme avalanche danger. So we played it save and skied down the same way we came up. Afterwards we went up to Evening Ridge to see the same circumstances. So we skied down sticking to the trees, which was not to bad.

2010-01-04 23:27:27We did a quick lap up (and down) Evening Ridge today, Jan 4. Sounds like not much has changed since a couple days ago. Two whumping sounds and evidence of the persisent weak layer one can read more about on the CAA avy report, here: http://www.avalanche.ca/cac/bu.....-boundary/ . It felt relatively stable in the trees but we did avoid a roll which made us all feel a little uneasy. It was dumping when we left at 1:00. Should be sweet tomorrow. Again.
