Smithers new touring area now even bigger

We just recieved an update about the Hankin-Evelyn Recreation Area and how the area continues to grow, below is a list of what they have been up to in Smithers and all the route info (which will be update soon) can be found here.

We are just finishing up for the season and the snow is coming in hard and heavy in the

alpine. Here's what's new:

-2 new runs were cut (10 runs in total now).

-access to Hankin North was improved by installing two bridges and 40 culverts. New 15 vehicle parking lot. Now 40 minutes less skinning in the morning.

-new parking lot on the Elliot end of the range. This is 20 minutes from town.

-access to 2 more huge alpine bowls

-built a 16X12 day use shelter in the sub-alpine at top of run 6. As soon as it quits snowing we will finish roof and install stove.

-completely renovated the old Hankin Fire Lookout. It's ready for use.

-cut half a run on the Lookout side. Ran out of time/money. Will finish next summer.

-bucking crews worked all summer on cleaning up debris on runs 1, 2, 3, 4,

5, 6, 7, 8. This will definitely improve early season skiing.
