Adam Roberts (31) Killed in Avalanche

Adam Roberts, a 31-year-old man from Bellingham Washington, was recently killed in an avalanche outside of White Pass Ski Area on Mt. Rainier this past Tuesday. This comes as tragic news at any time, but especially around the holidays.
 
Reports tell us that Adam and a friend had skied a similar line earlier that day and went back for one more when the skier-triggered avalanche buried him in 5 to 6 feet of snow. Adam’s friend was able to reach ski patrol but by then it was too late. No reports indicate whether or not there was use of backcountry equipment (beacon, shovel, probe).

A ski bum lifestyle in the mountains, skiing daily and dwelling in a homemade tiny house built on the back of a pickup truck. I didn’t know Adam Roberts, but I know many like him who make similar choices. Hopefully we can learn from this tragedy and move forward this New Year with a new perspective about the lifestyles we live and how our choices affect those around us. Rest in Peace.
