Comp: One of the Sweetest Walks in the Park

The Asulkan Valley holds a number of the gems in the park.  The Jupiter traverse is one of them.  Castor, Pullox and Leda comprise the ridge that towers above the Asulkan Glacier. The clans from Golden and Revelstoke united on Saturday and twelve us of made like ants on a log and walked the ridge together.

The pass is looking pretty schralped these days, but if you look a little harder, there is plenty of untracked snow out there.

The ridge has a pleasantly airy feel to it.

The ridge is just starting to shape up, so we set up an anchor and a single line rapell to expedite twelve people moving through the steep downclimb off the summit of Pollux.

Three summits down, one shred to go!  To put it in a plainly, the mountains are neat, but being in them with friends is where it is at.

A short steep pitch off the top of Lead leads to the big, sweet Thorington route…oh, yeah!

Time for the double-up, the Jupiter traverse is paired nicely with Young's Peak…especially when there's a big moon.  

Did I say the joint was schralped?  However, the tracks didn't take away from the alpenglow.

Catching the sun setting behind the Mt. Jupiter from the summit of Youngs Peak was the almost as good as the moon-lit run back to the highway!

Summit Party.  What a day and what a place, Rogers' Pass under a nearly full moon and high pressure, if you said it was one of the greatest places on earth, I wouldn't agrue with you.
