Switch Vision Stormrider and Pathfinder Sunglasses - VIDEO REVIEW
This past summer we prepared a review of the Switch Axos and for the first time in many years, we were impressed by new technology as it applies to sunglasses. The foundations of Switch Vision’s product line are powerful magnets that allow you to easily interchange lenses within a frame: no more moving parts and plastic gimmicks that inevitably break – just pop in the specific lens you want and go. In fact, the Backcountry Ski Canada team was so impressed with the technology, Switch Vision’s glasses was awarded “Gear of the Year.”
Last November we were given two new lines of Switch sunglasses (the Stormriders and the Pathfinders) and both have fixed lenses but allow you to interchange the eyecups, the soft rubber, closed-cell cushions that surround the lenses. Each came with two different types of eyecups – the Activity Guards, which the company says “screens out mild debris and wind” and the Climate Guards, which provide “a goggle-like fit with its thin, ultra flexible TPR rim for maximum blockage of debris, wind, water and other elements". The idea being that you can skin up while wearing your glasses and then pop in the magnetized Climate Guard eyecups for the ski down – no need to pack in a bulky pair of goggles.
