      Recommended Transceiver

      Hi Everyone,


      I am begining to get into the realm of backcountry skiing and I am looking to buy my first transceiver. I've gone over all the reviews and I still can't make a descision on which one to get. I really like the simplicity of the Tracker 2 but I am concerned with its inabillity to locate multi burrials. I know it mostly comes down to preference and practicing alot with your transceiver but i'd like to know what you guys are using and what you would recommend. I've also been leaning towards the Pieps DSP Pro.

      I am a huge fan of the Mammut/Barryvox Element transceiver. We gave it our Gear of the Year award. Check out the review here.  I'd recommend at least giving it a look. Super simple. great range, comfortable, etc..

      I'm using the Pieps DSP Sport and am very happy with it. Fortunately, haven't ever used it in a legitimate search, but practicing with it has always been very quick.

      Hey Adam, I have been using the Pieps DSP Pro all season and highly recommend it, before this I used the previous version and it was a solid product as well. That would be my vote and I have reviewed a lot of them on the market currently but as you said it is personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with!

      Ya I really like the Pieps Pro but my only concern is the potential of the lock function to freeze up in very cold conditions. Has anyone had any issues with the lock when switching between modes? Also I'll be sure to look into the Mammut Element a little more. Thanks everyone!

      I don't think you should be concerned about that. I've never had an issue with the Sport and I'm pretty sure it's the same mechanism as the Pro.
