Next Season's Black Diamond Clothing from Outdoor Retailer Show

Black Diamond introduced their new clothing line just over a year ago and for next season they plan on extending the line to cover a much wider range of men’s clothing. This will include the Gore-Tex Hardshell Collection, Windstopper Taped-Seam Softshell Collection, Windstopper Softshell Collection, Dawn Patrol Collection, Primaloft Down Collection, Primaloft Synthetic Collection, Polartec Softshell Collection, Polartec Fleece Collection, Merino Wool Collection, Modern Cragwear and of course Logowear. Have a read below for a detailed explanation of each and be sure to watch the following video of John explaining the line up from Winter Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City this past winter.

In addition to this massive line-up of men’s cloths, Black Diamond will also be launching their women’s line of clothing. Plenty to look forward to in fall 2013/14!

        GORE-TEX HARDSHELL COLLECTION

Our shells are built using a meticulous design and fit process that embodies our commitment to treating apparel as an integral part of your alpine toolkit. So to design the next generation of hardshell, Black Diamond sought out the best fabrics, finishes and components available. For fabric, that meant Gore-Tex, the ultimate building block for technical outerwear. Known for being incredibly waterproof and highly breathable, it stands up to the abrasion and abuse dished out by the world’s harshest environments. In designing this collection, we chose Gore-Tex’s most advanced fabrics: Gore-Tex Pro and Gore-Tex Active. Engineered for extended use in extreme conditions, Gore-Tex Pro is the foundation of our most protective shells. Gore-Tex Active is ideal for high-output, fast-paced pursuits where weight, packability and breathability are paramount. We combined both with embedded Cohaesive™ hardware to create a line of technically advanced hardshells tuned for aerobic single-day pushes and rugged alpine expeditions.

        WINDSTOPPER TAPED-SEAM SOFTSHELL COLLECTION

Hardshell or softshell? Traditional shells make you choose between maximum protection and maximum breathability. But by bringing taped-seam construction to WINDSTOPPER, Black Diamond has developed an alternative to these two extremes: a collection of versatile

laminate-based shells that blurs the line between hardshell and softshell. With this construction, Black Diamond is bringing new levels of versatility, performance and weather resistance to softshell outerwear. The result is a collection engineered for use in a wide variety of activities and conditions.

        WINDSTOPPER SOFTSHELL COLLECTION

Windstopper fabrics have long proven to be a superior choice for dynamic protection against mountain weather while retaining optimal breathability. Light, packable and totally windproof, our collection of Windstopper softshells employs Windstopper Active, Windstopper Soft Shell and Windstopper to offer enhanced performance across a range of activities, from aerobic approaches to fast-and-light alpine missions.

        DAWN PATROL COLLECTION

Highly functional, purpose-built clothing for the 12-month alpine climbing season, the Dawn Patrol collection was crafted to handle the dynamic demands of moving fast in the mountains. From steep, snowy approaches to ice-choked couloirs and knife-edge ridge traverses, the Schoeller stretch-woven fabric is highly durable and optimally breathable and stretches efficiently with the body during high-output activities. NanoSphere® is the industry’s best-performing and longest lasting solution for repelling water, dirt and oil.

        PRIMALOFT DOWN COLLECTION

Wet belays, snow caves and winter camps: to meet the most challenging demands of skiers, climbers and alpinists, we built all of our down outerwear with PrimaLoft® GoldInsulation Down Blend, made from 70% high-loft, weather-treated goose down and 30% compressible, ultra-fi ne PrimaLoft fibres. Fusing the benefits of natural and synthetic insulations for active use in variable environments, the resulting fill is warm when wet, and extremely durable both in construction and weather resistance.

        PRIMALOFT SYNTHETIC COLLECTION

Through spindrift, exposure and bitter cold, our Stance and Access collections feature PrimaLoft insulation to provide superior warmth and protection, whether you’re hunkered at the belay or on a wind scoured summit ridge. Available in a range of weights and styles, our PrimaLoft-insulated outerwear is highly packable and durable and remains warm even when wet.

        POLARTEC SOFTSHELL COLLECTION

On route, at work or in town, a rugged but versatile softshell is a crucial arrow in every mountain athlete’s quiver. We engineered our Polartec Windbloc collection to deliver technical insulation with the utility of a four season softshell. Completely windproof, fleece-backed and warm, it’s the go-to choice for everyday protection in mild weather and shoulder-season conditions.

        POLARTEC FLEECE COLLECTION

Highly insulating and optimally breathable, our line of fl eece features a fine-tuned selection of Polartec fabrics in modern silhouettes. Essential layers year-round, these pieces wick moisture to keep you warm and dry during high-output activities. Our Wind Pro, Power Stretch and Power Dry High Efficiency collections are each carefully honed to perform both for their own intended use and as part of a layering system.

        MERINO WOOL COLLECTION

Our Deployment collection harnesses the benefits of blended merino and high performance synthetics and directs them into their most useful iterations. Clean designs built with the user in mind, the pieces in our Deployment collection shine during longterm, active use. Our merino blend breathes well, provides natural odour control and dries quickly while still looking good, making it an ideal material for any long stint away from home and for easy transitions between the crag and the city streets.
