NEW 2013/2014 K2 Boots, Skis and shovel at the SIA Show - VIDEO

Heaps of news coming out of K2 this year with the recent purchase of BCA and plenty of new products for next season. We caught up with MJ of K2 a few weeks back at the 2013 SIA Show in Denver and she gave us the run down on all the new products.

In boots, K2 has unleashed their new AT Free ride collection which includes the K2 Pinnacle 130 AT Boot with the Interlock System which provides a ski/walk mode. The integrated tech fittings allow you to use tech bindings but the soles are also alpine compatible so you can ski tech, alpine and frame AT bindings all with this one boot. The Power buckle is an innovative new feature which allows you to loosen off the power strap for walk mode. You simply flip the buckle and your ready to walk, flip it back and you can thrash the down. The K2 Pinnacle 130 AT boots also come with custom Intuition liners and powder cuff to keep your feet secure and warm.

In the way of new skis K2 has the the "backside" collection which includes the K2 Wayback Skis, the K2 Coomback Skis, and the K2 Back Drop Skis. Each ski features their new snowphobic top sheet which sheds snow and keeps your skis light on the up. The tip and tail also has new grommets instead of the old plug system to easily accommodate K2 skins. 

And finally the "Shaxe", K2's Rescue Shovel Ice Axe. Yup, a shovel that's also an ice axe. Simply remove the shovel handle and put on the ice axe head, then take the shovel blade off and you have a fully functioning ice axe for ski mountaineering - brilliant.
