Mountain Hardwear Introduces OutDry glove technology
Mountain Hardwear is introducing some new glove technology for this coming winter season (only 4 months to go people) and it sounds like a winner. Waterproofness/windproofness and breathability is nothing new but bonding the membrane to the shell itself is something new and worth getting excited about. Top this with some environmentally conscious design (enter non-toxic and recycled materials) and we think they may be onto something here. OutDry Features
Extremely Waterproof: The OutDry system is based on a patented innovative lamination process: the waterproof and breathable membrane is bonded directly to the external glove's shell, creating a unique body which seals the stitching and any other potential water entry point. There are no gaps between the shell and the waterproof barrier where water can stagnate and create an unpleasant wet, cold sensation. This extreme waterproof quality means OutDry gloves dry much faster that other winter gloves.
Superior Breathability: The OutDry membrane is specifically engineered for hand protection during sport activity. It has very high water vapour permeability, certified by the primary international testing facilities according to ISO, ASTM and JIS norms. The absence of humidity between the membrane and the shell allows moisture to move away from the skin for dry warmth.
Totally Windproof: Unlike standard glove insert systems, OutDry blocks the wind on the glove's outer surface.
Constant Insulation: OutDry's comfort lies with the large volume of warm, dry air which envelops the hand. This layer of air dramatically reduces the risk of condensation from excessive perspiration, and maintains stable hand temperature.
Perfect Fit: The OutDry system uniformly seals the shell's inner surface with a thin waterproof barrier leaving increased space for the insulation layer. OutDry provide a precise fit and increased dexterity, so you won’t want – or need – to take your gloves off.
