Backcountry Access has been a pioneer in the airbag backpack market, currently offering three models in their Float series. Over the winter of 2012, Backcountryskiingcanada.com had the opportunity to try all three models: the Float 18, Float 30 and Float 36 - choosing the Float 36 for a long-term review. Additional weight withstanding, the Float series provides practical, convenient pack options for most backcountry enthusiasts, be it mechanized access or daylong touring. And of course there’s the airbag thingy, which is widely regarded as a valuable life saving tool in the event you are caught in an avalanche.
