Black Diamond Spot 400 Headlamp—Small, Yet Powerful

The Black Diamond Spot 400 Headlamp is my go-to headlamp because it is reliable, balanced, and lightweight. It delivers a maximum brightness of 400 lumens with a beam distance reaching up to 100 meters, improving on its previous generation. The headlamp offers seven useful lighting modes, including spotlight, floodlight, red light, and strobe, which makes it versatile for tasks from distance viewing to close-up work. Its ergonomic design with a thinner band and lighter plastic housing provides comfort during extended use, especially for activities like hiking or running. The long battery life on the low setting can last up to 200 hours, and the unit is waterproof, enhancing its durability and functionality in various weather conditions.

The Spot 400 stands out for its value, performance, and features that include a dimmable LED light, battery meter, brightness memory, and digital lock mode. While not the most powerful headlamp available, its 400-lumen output is more than adequate for ski touring, camping, backpacking, and hiking. The headlamp supports both AAA batteries and Black Diamond’s own rechargeable battery (not included). With solid features and performance, the Black Diamond Spot 400 is a headlamp that you can count on for any outdoor adventure where weight is a priority.
