Atomic Shift MNC 13 Binding - VIDEO

Since Atomic is part of the Amer Sports brand they share technology and products with another popular brand owned by Amer Sports, namely Salomon and hence why Atomic and Salomon both have a binding called the Shift. Atomic’s Shift MNC 13 Binding is a tech binding for ski touring and an alpine binding for freeride skiing—all in one. It was seven years in development and is the worlds first binding with full touring and freeride capabilities.

The Shift MNC 13 Binding is also compatible with all normed boots on the market – alpine and touring, hence the MNC in its name which stands for Multi Norm Compatible. So, it will work with pretty much any boot out there except touring boots without a full-sized toe and heel like the Dynafit Hoji Pro Tour Boots. 



I was fortunate to attend a media event last week called ‘Next Year Now 2020’ put on by Denny Ink PR and Atomic was one of the participating brands. In addition to skiing on the Atomic Shift MNC 13 Binding, we also used the Backland Skis, Atomic Hawx Prime Boots and Atomics new Four Helmet and goggles. Not only did we crush resort laps in bounds at Solitude Mountain Resort but the Shift MNC 13 Binding also allowed us to spend a day out of bounds traversing from Solitude to Alta to Brighton and back to Solitude. This binding was made for those ski days where you need the reliability and safety of a full release alpine binding and the light weight and freedom of a touring binding. And, new for next year Atomic is following up their success of the Shift MNC 13 Bindings with a new Shift 10 which will have, you guessed it a lower maximum DIN setting of 10.
