    • Body Glove Dynamo Ribcage Shoes

    Body Glove Dynamo Ribcage Shoes

The Dynamo Ribcage Shoes are built for watersport of any kind. They’re versatile enough that some users may even hike and run in them as well but their forte is paddle sports. The 4-way stretch knit allows for breathability and comfort while the Phylon midsole offers support on the top, side and heel of the foot. An ultra grip outer sole is rubber and sports a underfoot design that will leave a cheeky footprint in the sand. This design and minimal support at the ball of the foot allow you to have a more “barefoot” feel to optimize balance for your water activities.

The easy slip on entry point is comfortable and you also won’t need socks (naturally). The exoskeleton ribcage design works with the lacing system to grab the foot from the sides, cradling it in place.

Water will obviously enter the shoe from the top and sides, and can drain from here as well as drain holes located on the bottom of the shoes.

    Verdict:

This shoe looks great for any active water sports such as standup paddle boarding, kayaking, rafting r even surfing. They are form fitting, lightweight and stylish, so you can wear them almost anywhere. I loved how they gripped and protected my feet against rocks, but there wasn’t a lot of support outside the heel. They are especially great as an all-in-one travel shoe for a light and fast getaway to the water, but I wouldn’t recommend them for hiking. They can save your feet in a rocky bottom river or ocean but once sand gets through the 4-way stretch knit it becomes uncomfortable. I would, however, recommend this shoe for standup paddle boarding. I could have used these shoes on a recent surf trip to Maui but instead, I stepped on a Sea Urchin and got a rather bad infection, now I know.  Besides this trip the Body Glove Dynamo Ribcage Shoes have been used on several SUP adventures and anywhere walking in water is involved. The soles really save your feet from any abuse, I just wish they drained more as the pooling water in them made my feet cold on more than one occasion.

Body Glove 3T Barefoot Requiem Shoes

    Price $59US
    Colours: Black/Yellow, Green/Black
    Sizes: 9-13

If you are looking for a more minimal water shoe and one which drains much better then you should check out the 3T Barefoot Requiem shoes. Unlike the Body Glove Dynamo Ribcage Shoes, the Requiems have no exoskeleton and are all fabric. They also have a much larger draining soul. While I am not a fan of the colour scheme or toe shoes, they were comfortable and drained really well. Either the Body Glove Dynamo Ribcage Shoes or the 3T Barefoot Requiem shoes will keep you protected and comfy out on the water it’s just a question if you want more support or more water drainage.
