I’m an experienced ski touring enthusiast living in Vancouver with a good chunk of time off in the first three weeks of December. I’ve heard that early season conditions are often good in the Salmo-Creston Pass and I’m keen to explore this area. I am looking to connect with folks that are risk averse and enjoy carrying good food into beautiful places for lunch. Knowing where to find turns in soft snow is a bonus!

I'm debating between sticking around the coast mountain area or heading more interior. I've never done any touring in the coast mountains so it would be nice to spend some time there and check things out.

Hey all,
New to this so not sure if this is the place to write. I'm in flat Kitchener Ontario and looking to connect with others both in Ontario and possibly a trip to Quebec if others are interested. I am relatively new to backcountry skiing ( a bit in NZ and Chile) and totally new to alpine skiing so I'm really interested in learning from others, having fun and hopefully getting to Quebec in February or March if others are interested. I don't know anyone else who does this, so doing this safely with others has been a roadblock. I've got skis/boots/skins/etc but not any of the further gear yet. I'd love to connect with others. Thanks and looking forward to keeping the conversation going! -Brandon

Sol Mountain Guided and Catered BackCountry Trip

Jorg Wilz of On Top Ltd. suggested that this might be a good place to let people know about three spots that have just come free at Sol Mountain (a backcountry lodge with running hot water and flush toilets) for heli into lodge April 2, heli out April 7. Our son and his girlfriend had to bail and our niece got transferred to Beijing so we are looking to sell any or all of the spots. We were there last year and immediately rebooked. The spots were $2,089.25 each. $1,600 per spot is what we are looking for. send me a note at dlong@barlon.ca if you are interested. Flying in from heli pad close to Cherryville. http://solmountain.com/winter It is a ton o' fun

This is from a post I found on one of the forums here:

If you are unfamiliar with Sol Mountain Lodge there are three
things you should know, and I'll tell you about 2 of them. First and foremost the Lodge itself is a well-appointed powder hotel with all the amenities that any hotel might have. Hot running water, showers, flushing toilets, comfortable beds, Wifi, stereo system, yoga studio, everything but a microwave. Second, the terrain is varied. You can get epic alpine descents down Mt. Fosthall that could keep Greg Hill happy, banging pillows and chutes at treeline, gentle alpine meadows and the most incredible tree skiing you can imagine. The third thing I could try to explain in words, however I could never convey the excitement and overall feel of Sol Mountain Lodge. Some call it stoke, others a good time and some say it's the call of the Monashees.

Looking for ski-touring partners

Hi guys,
I live in Vancouver and I am looking for a partner or a group to practice ski-touring/backcountry in the area. I don't have a preference about locations: I just want to go out there and explore the Canadian wilderness on skis!!!
I have recently moved to Vancouver from Italy and I have many years of ski-mountaineering and mountaineering experience on the Alps. I underline that I am fully equipped with safety gear.
I don't have a car but obviously I'm willing to share the costs of the trips.
