We went to the Chic-Choc last march cause we could'nt afford our annual trip to the rockies. Thank the ski gods we found POW. We spent 1/2 a day at Val d'Irène in the Zone Blanche for $10. It had snowed quite a lot and nobody went to play in their "slackcountry area" so we got to make the first tracks even though we showed up at noon. Then after only one descent we had to get back on the road to go meet up with the guys from Vertigo. We had a nice home made supper and than hopped on the sleds for a 25km ride to the yurts in the middle of the Réseve faunique de Matane. We had a great time skiing runs like the "Orgasmotron" and "Pet sauce".

After the weekend with Vertigo most of the guyshad to go back to Montreal but my budy and I spent a few more days in the Parc du mont Albert. We stayed in the cabins rigth in front of Mont Albert. We skied the Hogsback and Mont Lyall.

Although I was quite happy to finally ski the Chic-Chocs it doesn'nt compare to the rockies. It is the only prime backcountry skiing in Quebec and it is quite Busy.

If you do read french here is a link to my friends web site where he wrote a report from our weekend with Vertigo. If you dont just look at the pretty pictures he's a professionnal photgrapher so the pictures are amazing. http://aventures.lameutepleina.....pesie2015/

Hope that helps and that you get lots of snow on trip

Cheers

Hey thanks for the replies guys! I am now planning to stay with the chic-chac for 6 nights (five days riding) because at the moment I am still planning to go alone and they seem to have the best deals for the situation. I plan to cat-ski with them for 3 days and either ride mt. miller the next two or hire a guide for skinning...undecided about that still. I spoke to a very nice lady on the phone at chic chac and she mentioned the snow conditions at that time of year are a bit iffy but regardless I am going to gamble! Anyone out there have info/stories on the cat-skiing/guided tours through chic chac or riding at Mt. Miller in Murdochville? Anyone out there planning a similar trip and want to meet up for a few days of skinning?? Again I really appreciate the responses!
Cheers
